Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm | Review
We’ve all been there. It’s the end of the day and it’s time to do what we dread to do all day; take off our makeup. I used to absolutely loathe removing my makeup because it usually involved multiple wipes and lots of rubbing to take off all the foundation and mascara I so joyfully applied in the morning. That was until I was introduced to the beauty of Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. I had never used a cleansing balm to remove my makeup and was fairly new to the idea at the time of my purchase but everyone who uses one seems to hail it’s easy makeup removal powers.
The closest thing I can think of to describe the texture of this particular balm is that of Vaseline. Weird, I know, and I will admit that the first couple times I used this, I couldn’t help but note how weird it felt to slather it on top of a full face of makeup. It just felt, well, wrong. However, once you begin massaging it into you skin, it almost transforms into an oil and it only takes seconds to notice your makeup melting away and breaking down. It’s incredible. I use about a quarter-sized amount for my entire face. I take this over my eyes as well and it breaks down waterproof mascara like a dream. Once I feel like I’ve massaged it in enough, I will rinse my face with water as well as use a warm & damp facecloth all over the face to make sure it’s completely off and go in with face cleanser. The packaging itself is quite large and but it’s not excessive in the sense that you do get quite a lot of product. This cleansing balm is undoubtedly going into my hall of fame and I easily see myself purchasing this over and over again. Also, I want to point out that I’ve had this for about 5 months now and I think I’ve only used up a quarter of the product (maybe less) so that’s impressive. Lastly, I want to note that cleansing balms as a whole are a fabulous option for dry & sensitive skin because they don’t strip the skin of its moisture and they are extremely gentle. This Clinique balm is also fragrance-free, a huge plus for me.
Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm (3.8 oz) retails for $28.50 at Sephora, Macy’s, and anywhere that has a Clinique counter.
